FiB LIVE | JOE THAYER, FILM: DEAD BIRDS

Filmmakers in Boardrooms (FiB) LIVE welcomes independent filmmaker Joe Thayer, writer and director of Dead Birds (2026), a coming-of-age short film exploring masculinity, peer pressure, and the choices that shape our identities.

Based in New Jersey, Thayer is an award-recognized screenwriter and director whose work centers on character-driven storytelling. His filmography includes Before You Go (2023), The Other Side (2023), and Dead Birds (2026). He is also developing feature-length projects, including How to Disappear Completely and A Girl to Love.

Through Dead Birds, Thayer examines the difficult choices faced by a teenage boy navigating the pressures of belonging and the responsibility of treating others with respect.
